Thanks to Kathleen Quinn, there is also a great clickable Google Presentation version of the document as well! And if you want your own editable version, you can make your own copy of the file here. Just be sure to give proper credit if you choose to share!

Thanks to Stephen Taylor (@iBiologyStephen) for the great starters! I've combined them with my own task specific clarifications and tweaked a bit!

Vertical Plan exampleClick the image to go to a google doc of a sample science vertical plan.
This plan is for an modular course that includes units on biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental systems each year. Color denotes the assessment focus for the unit, but each unit may include multiple types of assessment. |

Acids and Bases
These resources are designed for my MYP 1 Science class. This unit is taught largely through students inquiring into the properties of common liquids and learning that pH is a way to describe them. Students first interact with 10 unknown liquids and litmus paper, with no instructions. Out of this we build our inquiry questions. Then we will begin to scaffold learning through a series of labs, two formative criterion B labs, and then a summative; two formative criterion C labs, then a summative. Direct instruction is given when students are ready for the answers. If questions do not arise that allow content to be learned or taught, then we will pause from our inquiry to add to our knowledge base. At the end of the 6 scaffolded labs students will plan and carry out their own investigation on acids and bases.
